What energy yesterday for the last board meeting of 2022 🔥.

We have validated 7 new projects that make Decathlon's mission even more concrete: to get people moving through the pleasures and benefits of sport!

Three countries - Austria, the UK and Belgium - presented their first Foundation projects. Let's continue to unleash the social impact of sport.

Discover the different projects below.

ENCOURAGING PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AMONG DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN

⚽️ Two soccer projects :

  • Kafig League in Austria, a project for children from a migrant background. Led by the Caritas association and two decathletes with a passion for soccer, Klaus-Peter and Andreas, the project uses soccer to promote inclusion and education among young people.

  • Changing the game for London's children in the UK. This project, led by the Bloomsburry soccer association, is dedicated to including all children, regardless of gender, religion, background or economic situation, through soccer.

💪🏼 The project "Faire Bouger les Collégiens à travers le design actif" (Getting students moving through active design)

This project is dedicated to all students at the Pierre Mendes middle school in Tourcoing, France. In this school, located in a disadvantaged neighborhood, most of the pupils don't take part in sports. Many of them are overweight. The project was designed with the children in mind, to get them moving and create links through sport.

PROMOTE THE SOCIAL INTEGRATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE

🚀 Sports challenges to encourage encounters between Decathlon teammates and young people in social reintegration throughout France.

The Parrains par Mille association and Décathlon Lille teammates created this project together.

🥊 Boxing to re-mobilize Brussels youth around sport and employment.

The Sport2Be association and Decathlon Belgium have joined forces to harness the power of sport.

🗻 Mountaineering as a means of surpassing oneself for young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods in France.

The Gravir pour Grandir project is a crazy challenge to climb a 4000 m peak with young people who have never been to the mountains.

FIGHTING FOR WOMEN'S FREEDOM

🏃‍♀️ A running project in Paris to defend the place and safety of women in public spaces.

Decathlon Technology Paris team-mates, sensitive to gender equality and women's issues, decided to get involved with the Sinequanon association. The aim of the project is to make it clear that all women should be able to take part in sport in complete safety, and make public space their own.
